El Saler - Javier Arana's masterpiece on the Mediterranean shores
The Parador de El Saler golf course is considered by professional and amateur players, institutions and the specialised press as one of the best golf courses in the world. Built in 1968 by Javier Arana, believed to be the great architect of Spanish golf and of international renown, the course is located in El Saler Natural Park, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, in the Autonomous Community of Valencia.
The design gave importance to the integration of the golf course into the protected landscape (native plants such as the famous Portulaca). The course has a variety of areas, ranging from beach links, similar to the famous Scottish golf courses, to areas of typical Mediterranean forest. The total length of the course is 6,042 m, spread over 18 holes, with a par of 72 strokes. The club has a golf school, driving range, 3 putting greens, 2 approach greens, pro-shop, club, trolley and electric car hire, restaurant and snack bar.
It is also another example of our commitment to sustainability and the environment thanks to its special irrigation system with 100% recycled water.
The Parador de El Saler Golf Course has hosted four Spanish Open Men.
Spanish Open 1984
Spanish Open 1989
Spanish Open 2001
Spanish Open 2013
In addition, in 2003 El Saler hosted the Seve Trophy (2003) and before that the Turespaña Masters (1996) and the Mediterranean Open (1993).
