Jávea Golf Club – Surrounded by mountains in an idyllic setting

The course was designed by Francisco Moreno and opened in 1981. It is situated 100 kilometres from Alicante on the road to Valencia, sheltered from the wind by Cabo de San Antonio. The course enjoys a perfect microclimate all year round and is set in a wonderful natural setting, surrounded by pine forests.

The course is a gently sloping 9-hole layout with well-maintained greens and fairways flanked by palm trees, pines and orange trees. Although it has only 9 holes, on the second round many of the holes are played from different tees, making it effectively an 18-hole course. Furthermore, the green on hole 4/13 is large enough to accommodate two flag positions.

The challenges posed by the 9th hole, a par 4 with splendid views from a green plateau, require a confident and precise shot to tackle its dogleg. The 16th is the shortest at 120 metres, whilst the 5th is the longest at 475 metres. Although it is not very long, it is certainly a challenge, as it is riddled with bunkers – 34 in total – and all the greens have subtle slopes, many of which are difficult to read.
