Escorpión Golf Club – Unique Experiences…
The C.G. ESCORPIÓN was founded on 26 April 1969. Construction began in 1974 and the course was provisionally opened to members in 1975. The 18-hole course, with the possibility of a second phase to extend it to 27 holes, was designed by the American architect Ron Kirby. On 19 May 1976, the course was officially opened with an amateur competition and, towards the end of that same year, it hosted the Spanish Professional Championship, in which Severiano Ballesteros, Manuel Piñero, Antonio Garrido, José Mª Cañizares and the rest of the ‘Armada Invencible’ took part.
Since then, the CG Escorpión has hosted some of the finest tournaments in our country, notably the 1980 Spanish Open and the 1984 Spanish Amateur Championship.
In 2000, work began on extending the course to 27 holes, based on a design by Alfonso Vidaor, who was also responsible for the design and construction of the par-3 course that opened in 2005. This work marked the completion of the current 27-hole course, comprising nine par-3 holes, a driving range, two putting greens and two chipping greens.
In sporting terms, our club has not only made a name for itself by hosting major competitions, but C.G. Escorpión has also produced some outstanding players. Many of our members feature on the list of winners in championships across the Valencian Community, Spain and Europe, in both the women’s and men’s categories, from under-10s to seniors.
